Expanding Awareness for More Connected Work
Building Reflective Capacity
Professional Dangerousness is the phrase coined by Tony Morrison to describe the process in which professionals “can behave in a way which either colludes with or increases the dangerous dynamics” of the family in which the abuse originated (Morrison, 1990).
This training guides participants in the identification of Professional Dangerousness (PD) while offering supportive strategies to aid in resolution for organizations and staff. With a focus on expanding self-awareness, attendees will deepen their professional resilience through understanding the neuro-biological response systems when exposed to chronic emotional erosion. Content of the training involves identifying PD through relevant examples while encouraging participants to reflect on their current practices. It also encompasses an overview of the factors contributing to and fostering maladaptive practices in the human services system. This comprehensive understanding will include insights into cognitive functions, unconscious social adaptations, and the impact of systemic conditioning on a professional's methods of work. Further exploration of personal experiences, values, and belief systems and how they shape the formation of meaningful relationships with clients and co-workers.
This training is primarily solution-focused, offering participants a reflective space to identify areas of needed support. This includes expanding self-awareness, building supportive networks, developing self-care strategies, exploring team-building opportunities, and reflecting on organizational values and culture.

Organizational Engagement Strategies
Emotions are a natural part of the human experience, yet we are not inherently born with the skills to recognize what we or others are feeling, nor were these skills typically taught in grade school. Emotions and cognition work conjointly to execute information processing, with emotions typically preceding our thoughts. This can result in a shift in our brain functioning, influencing our decision-making, social interactions, and cognitive operations. This training focuses on developing reflective capacity, building Emotional Intelligence (EI), and identifying correlating cognitive biases that may be hindering professional practice or obstructing the progression of personal growth.
Content provides a brief overview of organizational and team approaches while focusing on tangible solutions for individuals operating within these systems.
